Just a few days ago, Volvo unveiled the mid-life restyling of the XC40 Recharge, its first mass-produced electric car. Among other things, the compact SUV now sports updated aesthetics directly inspired by the lines of the C40 Recharge, its “coupé” version, from which it takes elements such as the headlights or the grille.
In parallel, the C40 Recharge itself has received an important novelty in our country: an access variant that allows it to lower its starting price to 46,358 euros (before aid) and match its mechanical offer to that of the XC40 Recharge, whose rates start at 44,955 euros. As can be seen, the difference between one and the other is smaller than ever.
The new Volvo C40 Recharge Single Motor is front-wheel drive and is equipped with a 231 hp (170 kW) and 330 Nm engine. It can do 0 to 100 km/h in just 7.4 seconds, while its top speed is 160 km/h. Its batteries have a capacity of 69 kWh and allow it to approve a range of 433 km WLTP. On the other hand, it can go from 10 to 80% charge in just 32 minutes connected to a 150 kW station in direct current.
As can be seen, it is a less performance version than the well-known Recharge Twin Motor with all-wheel drive, which announces 408 hp (300 kW) and 660 Nm. This model, which starts at 54,817 euros, lowers the 0 to 100 km/h to just 4.7 seconds and sees its top speed increased to 180 km/h. Although it is equipped with a more capable pack of 78 kWh, its range is similar ( 438 km WLTP ). Its charging time in this case is 40 minutes.
The Volvo C40 Recharge range is divided into three finishes
It is interesting to remember that, as with the equivalent XC40 Recharge, the C40 Recharge Twin Motor can benefit (for a fee) from a wireless update that increases its power by 68 hp (50 kW), thus reaching 476 hp . . Initially, their autonomy is not affected despite the performance improvement.
The Volvo C40 Recharge is available in three trims: Core, Plus, and Ultimate. The first can only be associated with the Single Motor configuration, while the other two are available indistinctly with both variants. These are their rates:
