MG is a British brand that, like many others on the islands, lived a moment of glory, and then disappeared. But a few years ago it was resurrected by the Chinese manufacturer SAIC, which has made it one of the fastest growing companies in the world. Now MG is preparing for the launch of a flagship model. The Cyberster. A fully electric sports roadster of which we know characteristics, and prices.
He MG Cyberster it aims to begin deliveries in Europe in the middle of next year, which would allow it to coincide with the centenary of the British company.
For a few weeks we have known its final design, which allows us to see a radically different proposal in a market taken by force by SUVs, and where an electric roadster is undoubtedly an excellent way to attract attention.
And it is that this is a passion project destined mainly to become a flagship model, and that will have a very limited production that is estimated to not exceed 2,000 units per year.
As we remember, the Cyberster is a model that is 4.53 meters long, 1.91 meters wide and 1.33 meters high, while its wheelbase stands at 2.69 meters. Therefore, it is much larger than a Mazda MX-5 (3.91 meters), than an Alpine A110 (4.18 meters) or even a BMW Z4 (4.32 meters).
The aesthetics of the MG Cyberster will be relatively classic, with a long bonnet, almond-shaped headlights, an electrically operated canvas top and a passenger compartment set back on the rear axle, although elements such as the doors with elytro-type opening or the pilots in the form of arrow (a tribute to the Union Jack, the national flag of the United Kingdom) will give it a certainly futuristic touch.
The range of the MG Cyberster will consist of two versions. The access model will be rear-wheel drive and will perform 231 kW (314 hp) and the superior will have all-wheel drive and 400 kW (544 hp). Top speed will be 200 km/h. The rest of the technical specifications, including its autonomy, will be announced later.
As for pricing, MG has confirmed rates for its first market, the UK, where the 314bhp version will start at £55.00, 63,000 euros to changewhile the most powerful variant of 544 CV will do it from 65,000 pounds, or 74,500 euros to change.
