Audi has updated its two smaller electric proposals, the SUVs Q4 e-tron and Q4 Sportback e-tron, with software version 3.2, which will be included as standard in the current MY23 model and will be available for all units produced so far. One of the main novelties will be the option to carry out future updates via OTA (Over the air).
Users will also be able to create personal profiles, as well as use the route planner (e-tron route planner) in the myAudi app and then send them to the car. In addition, when the vehicle suffers a breakdown or an accident, the driver can use the online roadside assistance call with the service Audi damage.
The new version of the software is capable of memorizing navigation data such as recent destinations, while the function “Preferred charging time” allows you to set a defined loading window; that is, users will be able to take advantage of the hours in which electricity is cheaper.
Another point of interest is the preconditioning before the scheduled departure time, since when the vehicle is charging, it uses energy from an external source (either a domestic charger or a public point) to heat the passenger compartment in winter. When conditioning the battery, the thermal management system optimizes consumption taking into account the outside temperature and the state of charge.
The Audi Q4 e-tron now charges at 135 kW of power
The maximum charging power in direct current has increased to 135 kW in the versions with a 77 kWh battery. On the other hand, customers can opt for the battery protection function, which limits the charge to 80%. The update also enables the Plug & Charge function, associated with a contract with the charging service Audi charging service.
This technology allows, in those compatible stations, the validation and payment of the charging process to be carried out automatically. In other words, the driver only has to plug in the vehicle, forgetting about smartphone apps and RFID cards. Customers can now customize the ambient lighting and background images displayed on the multimedia system screen. The package Audi connect navigation and infotainment plus integrates the Alexa assistant (Amazon).
Owners of a Q4 e-tron who do not have the new 3.2 software will be contacted individually by their Audi dealer in the first quarter of this year. To avoid annoying waiting times, updates will take place in several phases.
