The Seat Ateca not only represented a new model for the Spanish brand, but it was also the first attempt to attack a new segment, that of SUVs. With this car, the aim was to reach a new market niche and offer an alternative model that rivals the rest of the general manufacturers.
On the other hand, the Ateca can be considered a pioneer, since it laid the foundations for a new range of vehicles in the firm. Based on its success, new projects were proposed such as the Seat Arona, which became its little brother, or the Seat Tarraco, a larger SUV with up to seven seats inside.
This car offers many qualities that are certainly worth seeing in an SUV. It has a great design, a wide range of engines, different equipment levels, and a very competitive price with which to stand up to its rivals, and in 2020 it has undergone its first major restyling, with aesthetic touches, a higher level of equipment, the latest in technology, a new range of engines and the premiere of the XPERIENCE finish.
A renewed image
The first section in which the new Seat Ateca 2020 has evolved is in the exterior design. Strongly inspired by the company’s latest releases, such as the new Seat Leon, we find that the Ateca now debuts redesigned Full LED headlights and new shaped bumpers. At the rear, this pattern is repeated, with a new rear bumper and full LED taillights with dynamic indicators. The Ateca denomination also stands out with typography that the new León premiered.
In the specific case of the Seat Ateca FR, we find a sportier image with details in Cosmo Gray Matt color, along with a new grille design, front and rear bumper moldings, fog light grille, mirror covers, side moldings. and simulated exhaust surrounds in a matte finish.
On the other hand, the new Seat Ateca XPERIENCE, a new finish that makes its debut in the newly released restyling, offers a more off-road and adventurous style, with front and rear bumpers, wheel arches, and side protectors in black, as well as moldings sides, front and rear with aluminum-look finish.
Finally, the new Ateca 2020 offers up to 14 different alloy wheels in sizes ranging from 16 to 19 inches, as well as a complete palette with 10 exterior colors, including the newly developed Dark Camouflage paint.
Seat Ateca 2023 interior
The interior has also improved thanks to the restyling that Seat has subjected to the Ateca. Thus, customers will now find a new 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster with all the necessary information, which is complemented by an enhanced 8.25-inch center display for the infotainment system, which can reach 9.2 inches optionally.
Engineers have also worked on the adjustments and finishes of the cabin, with new moldings and upholstery with contrast stitching. The driver will now have a newly designed steering wheel that has been heated for cold days. As for air conditioning, the new Seat Ateca now includes a windscreen with Climacoat technology that allows exterior ice to be removed in just 2-3 minutes. Finally, adjustable front seats in up to eight ways and an ambient lighting system complete the novelties.
As for the measurements of the Seat Ateca, it grows 18 mm in length to reach 4,381 mm and retains its width (1,841 mm) and height (1,615 mm). This increase is the result of the newly designed bumpers, while the wheelbase (2,638 mm) remains unchanged. These dimensions allow the trunk of the Seat Ateca to have a volumetric capacity of 510 liters.
Available engines
The range of engines has also been updated in the restyling of the model. For this reason, it can now be equipped with three different gasoline engines, among which is the new 110 hp three-cylinder 1.0 TSI engine associated with a six-speed manual gearbox. The following is the 150 hp 1.5 TSI with cylinder disconnection that can be linked to both a manual transmission and a seven-speed dual-clutch DSG automatic. Finally, the 190 hp 2.0 TSI is linked exclusively to the DSG transmission and a 4Drive all-wheel-drive system.

In the diesel section, the Ateca is available with two units based on the same 2.0 TDI block. The first mechanic delivers 115 hp of power and is associated with a six-speed manual transmission as the only option, while the second version raises performance to 150 hp and can be chosen with a manual or automatic DSG transmission. If you want to equip the 4Drive all-wheel drive, you must equip the DSG automatic gearbox.
On the other hand, the Seat Ateca Cupra, or Cupra Ateca as it is marketed, is the sportiest variant of the model and, for the time being, has not undergone the same restyling as the standard variants. Despite this, it is still equipped with the 300 hp 2.0 TSI engine, with a seven-speed DSG gearbox and a 4Drive all-wheel-drive system. It reaches 100 km/h from a standstill in 4.9 seconds and has a top speed of 247 km/h.
Finishes and equipment
As for the levels of finish and equipment of the new Ateca, the range will be made up of the Reference versions for access to the range, Style, or the sporty FR, with the novelty of the incorporation of the XPERIENCE variant and the elimination of the Seat Ateca Xcellence from the family.
The technological endowment is expanded with the incorporation of new safety and driving assistance systems, among which adaptive and predictive cruise control, the emergency assistant, the lateral and exit assistant, the pre-collision assistant, the trip assistant, the lane departure warning assistant with lane-keeping, the trailer assistant and the six driving modes.
Meanwhile, the Seat Ateca 2020 boasts the latest in connectivity solutions, such as illuminated USB type C connectors, voice recognition, the Full Link system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, Bluetooth, Seat Connect with eSIM, and eCall emergency call.
