More than a new SUV, it will be up to a family. Building based on the new Nissan Qashqai, Renault will launch its Kadjar II, which represents a complete revolution in the range.
News about the new Renault Kadjar continues to arrive from France and Europe’s leading illustrators. It is not surprising, the SUV is undoubtedly going to be one of the brand’s great launches in 2022 and, although it is true that lately all the official information from the manufacturer is aimed at expanding its electrification, with the new Mégane E- Tech and the future new Renault 4 and Renault 5, both highly anticipated, the conventional range should undoubtedly mark its commercial path in the short term.
And we speak of conventional because we all know the Kadjar, a compact SUV always marketed in the shadow of the successful Nissan Qashqai, from which it takes its platform; but not, of course, because it’s the new model is going to be a continuity, far from it. The new Renault Kadjar will undoubtedly set a new course also in the company because of how much it will propose.
SAME BASE OF THE NISSAN QASHQAI III
And is that the latest information arriving from France suggests that, without confirming if you want to keep the name Kadjar, the compact SUV will expand into a whole new family. To the usual version developed, of course, on the new CMF-C / D architecture already released by the new Nissan Qashqai, this new Kadjar could also offer a sportier SUV coupe variant and a slightly larger 7-seater SUV variant and capable.
With this approach, Renault’s objective is not only to succeed the current Kadjar but also to replace with this new model the Koleos, which has not been very commercially successful. With SUVs dominating every day more all the sales lists in all categories, there is no doubt that the success of Renault in the short and medium-term depends to a large extent on this project.
The latest forecasts also indicate that this new Renault Kadjar II will be presented to the public possibly already during the spring of next year, to reach the market in the summer of that same 2022. Aesthetically, as we have already been telling you, it will adopt many features style of the new Mégane E-Tech Electric, as anticipated by the first illustration published by our colleagues at Kolesa.ru.
RENAULT KADJAR 2022: BIGGER AND WITH ELECTRIFIED ENGINES
In terms of dimensions, and taking into account that the Nissan Qashqai has already shown growth to 4.43 meters in length (3.5 cm more than before), the new Renault Kadjar also promises a larger, more spacious, and capable model. , with a trunk that should also exceed 500 liters of total capacity.
Initially, the new Renault Kadjar is expected to have engines very similar to those already shown by the new Nissan Qashqai. This would mean offering the 1.3 petrol engine with 140 and 158 hp with MHEV micro-hybrid systems, as well as a 1.5-liter 188 hp e-Power hybrid. However, from there, from France, they suggest that this Kadjar will also take its path.
That would be by having at least two electrified gasoline units, one in a conventional hybrid version and the other as a more powerful plug-in hybrid. The first would carry a 1.2 3-cylinder engine, known as E-Tech Hybrid, and would yield about 200 hp; the second would already bet on a 4-cylinder 1.5 and would reach 280 hp.
At the moment there is no confirmation on whether the new Kadjar (or as this new SUV is finally called) will continue to have a diesel engine or not. The latest information suggests that the French manufacturer could abandon this fuel in the coming years. In a few months, we will leave doubts.
