The prestigious media L’Argus today unveils the first data and information on what the third new generation of the Peugeot 3008 will be like, a vital SUV for the brand, as it has already become one of its best-selling models in all markets. The new model has already started its development under the project called P64, its prototypes should already roll on the road in 2022 and it will be presented, possibly, at the beginning of 2023.
So we already know, to begin with, that in less than two years we will have the new Peugeot 3008 on the road. But what will it be like? What will change? Well, practically everything, from its inception to its platform. And it is that the SUV will debut the new STLA Medium architecture of the French PSA Group and will be produced at the Sochaux factory.
MORE COUPE AND MORE TECHNOLOGY
From there, the new Peugeot 3008 will also almost completely change its appearance. According to this first information coming from France, the SUV will already have fewer square shapes to bet on a new more sporty, and coupe-cut silhouette, with a rear window and a very steep roof drop. These notes indicate that it will already take on some features seen in the 2014 Quartz concept.
Also somewhat longer (it currently measures 4.45 meters), the new Peugeot 3008 will have a smaller glass surface, which can undoubtedly translate, due to its more coupe silhouette, into slightly less interior headroom. of the rear passengers. PEUGEOT 3008 2023: WITHOUT DIESEL AND WITH A 100% ELECTRIC VERSION
Mechanically, perhaps, the great novelty of the new Peugeot 3008 will be the definitive abandonment of its diesel versions, with the disappearance of the 1.5 BlueHDi version of 130 hp. Instead, the big star of the range will be the new Peugeot e-3008, accompanied by one or two electric motors and capable of delivering 170 to 245 hp of power. This new electric SUV will be powered by a battery whose capacity will vary from 87 to 104 kW for a range of between 400 and 700 kilometers.
This 100% electric SUV is planned for the end of 2023, shortly before the rest of the Peugeot 3008 versions will arrive, which will bet on hybridization. Under the hood, this model will feature the new generation 1.2 PureTech engine, which will have a 48V micro-hybridization system and will offer versions with manual or 7-speed e-DCT7 automatic transmission, which will replace the current 8-speed EAT8.
This new transmission will also be used for the plug-in hybrid versions, which will complete the SUV range with an evolution of the 1.6 PureTech engine and versions, possibly, with 180 and 225 total hp.
