Nissan Juke 2022: Hybrid version of SUV unveiled

The 2022 range of the Nissan Juke is updated with the availability from this summer of an interesting and efficient non-plug-in hybrid version.

One of the most famous and popular urban SUVs in our market, the Nissan Juke, is renewed in its 2022 range with the addition of a new mechanical version.

This new variant incorporates non-plug-in hybrid technology and will be available on the market from next summer. Within its different technical elements, several stand out. The most relevant are a naturally aspirated 1.6 petrol engine of 69 kW (94 CV) and two electric motors of 36 kW (49 CV) and 15 kW (20 CV), -the second of these engines, with the main function of the generator and for start the gasoline engine.

Initially, the Japanese firm has not announced the total power or the overall performance of the hybrid system of this new non-plug-in hybrid version of the Juke 2022. If the different elements of its system are analyzed, it is not a first for this model, since its “ cousin-brother” within the Alliance, the Renault Captur E-Tech, has already incorporated this technology since 2021.

Within the different technical data provided by the Japanese manufacturer, several stand out. First of all, the approved fuel consumption figure is 5.2 l/100 km, while the officially declared CO2 emission level remains at 118 g/km.

According to information published by Nissan, the more powerful electric motor of 36 kW (49 hp) is capable of driving the car on its own from a standstill and at a speed of 55 km/h, as long as the battery level is sufficient and the driving circumstances are also ideal. As is usual in the operation of this type of car, the driver can select the purely electric mode via the EV button. In addition to this EV driving mode, it includes other operating modes -Eco, Normal, and Sport-. Depending on one or the other, the vehicle’s system varies the steering assistance parameters, the climate control, the response of the accelerator pedal, and the level of intensity of the regenerative braking system.

Nissan Juke Hybrid 2022: Drive Using “Only” the Accelerator Pedal

As is usual in many hybrid and purely electric vehicles, the new Nissan Juke Hybrid also features the e-Pedal system, whereby the vehicle, depending on the level of regenerative braking intensity selected, can be driven in the greatest part of the time using only the accelerator pedal. Depending on the intensity of abruptness when lifting your foot off the accelerator, the vehicle may decrease its speed to a greater or lesser extent. In this regard, Nissan ensures that using this E-pedal the car will never completely stop (it would work up to 5 km/h).

With Its Own Aesthetic Identity

In this new version of the urban SUV, there are a series of differentiating elements both in its exterior and interior design.

In the case of the grille design, it now meshes type and has a smaller opening to optimize aerodynamic efficiency.  At the rear, the spoiler that is mounted on the tailgate has been profiled to generate cleaner airflow behind the car. With the availability of this new hybrid version, drivers will also be able to choose from two new 17-inch and 19-inch alloy wheel designs.

Inside and about the time of instruments, the appearance, and information of the clocks changes (many of the new data related to battery levels and the driving mode in which the vehicle circulates at all times ). As for the volume of load capacity in the trunk, it has decreased slightly (up to 68 liters less) compared to the rest of the “non-hybrid” versions with a total capacity of 354 liters.
