The third generation of the Kia Ceed has just released its most recent renewal, a complete update with multiple changes that serve to add more value added to a car that will inspire you with their three different “personalities”, thanks to their three different body types -5 doors, estate or Tourer and ProCeed (or estate coupe or Shooting Brake type) –, each with a distinctive design and capable of attracting the attention of the most varied drivers.
The Ceed range was the first Kia car specifically designed, manufactured and built in Europe to attract the most varied tastes of European drivers. This model is, in fact, one of the pillars of the South Korean brand in our continent –together with Stonic and Sportage-, with up to 28 percent of the firm’s total sales.

For all this, the top managers of Kia have put all the meat on the grill to offer a Ceed renovation of the most complete and interesting.
NEW KIA CEED: ATTRACTIVE AND MODERN LOOK
Within its deep update, one of the first aspects that attracts the most attention is that of the design. The renewed model sports a series of outstanding novelties on the outside, such as a completely redesigned front with the new Kia logo clearly visible, an emblem based on the three letters of the brand that in turn symbolize the new slogan or leitmotif of the company, “Movement that inspires” or “Movement that inspires”. On the other hand, small and interesting aesthetic nuances serve to differentiate each of the different equipment versions (access version, GT-line sports line and more sporty / aggressive GT and, of course, PHEV plug-in hybrid variants).

In the front area of the vehicleAlso striking are the new bumper, the new grille painted in gloss black and the new headlamps with new advanced lighting functions, which offer LED technology as standard from the simplest equipment level. In the rear of the car Also new is the bumper, which now includes an aerodynamic diffuser, and in the case of the 5-door bodywork versions with GT-line and GT trim levels, headlamps incorporating newly designed LED combination lamps (consisting of 48 honeycomb modules surrounded by a red frame). These multifunctional modules are arranged in five rows and are covered with tinted glass. LEDs in certain rows light up sequentially when the driver activates the turn signals to indicate a next turn to be made.
The entire new Ceed 5-door range is available with 12 different body colors, four of them brand new (Machined Bronze, Lemon Splash, Yucca Steel Gray and Experience Green) and the alloy wheels they go on to offer new designs with different diameters or sizes between 40 and 46 cm (16 and 18 inches).

At inside, there are several novelties. First, you can choose up to three new upholstery (out of a total of 6) for the seats and door trims. On the other hand, a Digital instrument cluster via 31 cm (12.3-inch in size) behind-the-wheel display, a screen that can offer up to four predefined views. On the other hand, inflight entertainment is more than assured thanks to the new options and functions of the multimedia system connected to the Internet. These functions are visible through a screen located in a central area of the dashboard whose size can be 20 or 26 cm (8 or 10.25 inches), while the connectivity system for smartphones is compatible with the Android Auto and CarPlay technologies, on this occasion and for the comfort of the occupants without cables or wirelessly.
NEW KIA CEED: COMPLETE MECHANICAL RANGE FOR THE PRESENT AND THE FUTURE
The mechanical range in the new Ceed range is the most complete and varied, with versions adapted both to current environmental requirements and to those that are to come to our continent.
The different engines available – the 1.0, 1.5 and 1.6 liter gasoline and 1.6 liter diesel– benefit from efficient Kia Global Smartstream Technology, based in turn on different types of technologies. First of all, it highlights the system called CVVD (Continuously Variable Valve Duration) or Continuously Variable Valve Opening Duration system, which serves to optimize engine performance according to the most suitable mixture of fuel and air. more appropriate at all times. On the other hand, CVVT (Continuously Variable Valve Timing) technology is also crucial, which continuously varies the opening and closing time of the valves to maintain optimum point and fuel efficiency, in addition to the system of Low Pressure Exhaust Gas Recirculation (LP EGR), which returns some of the hot gases produced by the engine to the combustion chamber to reduce pumping losses and improve fuel consumption.

Specifically, the engines available in the Ceed range are as follows. For the “lovers” of the gasoline, first of all, the three-cylinder 1.0 T-GDi (direct injection turbo) in power levels of 100 and 120 hp; second, the new 160 hp 1.5 T-GDi engine (replacing the previous 1.4 T-GDi); and thirdly, for drivers who love the most exciting sports performance, the 1.6 T-GDi engine up to 204 hp. On the other hand, for motorists who prefer the diesel, you can choose the 1.6 CRDi engine with 136 hp.
Of the mechanical options mentioned, The 160 hp 1.5 T-GDi petrol version and the 136 hp 1.6 CRDi diesel are always combined as standard with a 48V micro-hybrid or light hybrid MHEV system, while in version 1.0 of 120 CV it is optional (all of them correspond to the DGT ECO environmental label).
The mechanical offer in the new Ceed range is completed with the PHEV plug-in hybrid version with up to 141 hp maximum power, which receives the DGT environmental label ZERO available with the Tourer bodywork. In its “technical guts”, we find several interesting elements that act interconnected with each other and always in the most optimal and efficient way. These essential elements in the Ceed’s PHEV technology are a 1.6 gasoline engine, an electric motor and a lithium-ion battery with 8.9 kWh capacity. According to the official data available for this plug-in hybrid version, it can be traveled in purely electric mode up to 47 kilometers (depending on version) on strictly urban routes.

Depending on the mechanical version chosen, the The gearbox can be a six-speed manual iMT (intelligent Manual Transmission) or automatic dual-clutch (six-speed for the plug-in hybrid and seven for the rest). One of the novelties in this technical chapter is the iMT manual box, exclusive to the MHEV light hybridization versions. One of the essential features of this new iMT transmission is the incorporation of an electronically controlled clutch that allows the engine to be disengaged from the transmission itself when no pedal is pressed. Therefore, automatically and without the driver doing anything, the vehicle can circulate by inertia (or “sail mode”) with the engine off in certain situations and conditions.
NEW KIA CEED: THE MOST ADVANCED TECHNOLOGY AT THE SERVICE OF SAFETY
The safety systems and driving assistants that the new Ceed can incorporate are numerous. One of the novelties in this regard is the new vehicle detection system in the blind spot now capable of correcting or intervening in the direction (steering wheel) if the driver does not act in the face of a more than obvious danger of collision.
Another of the extremely interesting safety technologies in the new Ceed is the system of Rear Cross Traffic Collision Avoidance Assist, Besides of system that alerts the driver when the vehicle in front has restarted.
Other safety devices that add value to the Ceed range are the Adaptive cruise control (with Stop & Go function) with lane keeping (with automatic vehicle guidance), the automatic high / low beam on and off system, the automatic parking assistance system and the system of emergency brake assist (frontal collision) with recognition of pedestrians and cyclists, among others.
