Mercedes launches a new van. The T-Class premiered on April 26 and is said to be ideal as a means of transport for families and leisure activities.
Vans have almost become a rarity, especially when you look at what’s on offer for private customers. The SUV has replaced the practical but rather old-fashioned van – but Mercedes wants to counter this trend with the T-Class. The premiere of the small van is scheduled for April 26th.
- Mercedes T-Class was introduced
- Up to three child seats in the back seat
- Prices start at under 30,000 euros
- Large space
- EQT as an electrical counterpart in planning
The competition is surprisingly small and will probably move in the direction of Opel Combo Life and VW Caddy because the T-Class is supposed to be a so-called “small van “.
Mercedes T-Class: exterior design
The T-Class is recognizable as a member of the Mercedes family. Reduced design, pronounced wheel arches, and muscular shoulders show that the T-Class is powerful and robust. It has to be, after all, it was designed as a leisure and family van.

To show off the premium character, a chrome grille and exterior mirror housings have been added. The front bumper and door handles are painted in the body color.
The compact external dimensions of 4.50 meters in length, 1.86 meters in width, and 1.81 meters in height do not suggest at first glance that the interior is very spacious. If you choose the variant with a long wheelbase, you can transport up to 7 people.

Practical sliding doors make it easier to get in and out – even if the parking space is very narrow because you don’t have to open any doors. A low loading sill of just 561 millimeters makes it easier to load heavy objects. The rear seats can also be folded as standard and form an almost level loading area with the trunk floor.
The trunk can either be ordered with a tailgate with a heated rear window as standard or with an optional two-part tailgate.

Engines
At market launch, the T-Class will be available with a diesel and a petrol engine, each with two output levels. Both are four-cylinder engines mated to a 6-speed gearbox on the diesel and a 7-speed dual-clutch gearbox on the petrol.
Here is an overview of the engines:

Mercedes T-Class: interior and trunk
The interior will be high-quality but above all very spacious. The standard equipment in the T-Class includes the MBUX infotainment system with a 7-inch touchscreen, a multifunction steering wheel, a height-adjustable driver’s seat, and a closed glove compartment.

The materials used also convey a premium character. The Artico man-made leather can be found as standard on the center armrest, the fine structure Neotex is used for the armrests on the doors and on the center panels of the doors, which we already know from the EQ models.
There are two equipment lines to choose from:
Style
Here you get a little dynamic in addition to the high-quality design. The seat covers are in black Artico man-made leather/microfibre with double topstitching. There are also trim elements on the doors and in the center console in high-gloss black. These elements are also optionally available in limonite yellow.

Chrome applications on the air vents, loudspeakers, and door handles make the T-Class look even sportier. Of course, you can also be comfortable, with the height-adjustable front seats, the practical folding tables on the back of the front seats, and the dark-tinted windows in the rear and rear area.
progressive
With this equipment, you get a little more elegance. The top equipment has contrasting topstitching in the upper part of the instrument panel, seats in man-made leather with white topstitching, and decorative elements on the center console and doors in silver. The sliding doors are equipped with electric windows.
