The re-launch of Mercedes’ mid-size SUV is already shaping up as an enticing alternative to the Audi Q5, BMW X3, and Jaguar E-Pace thanks to an all-new interior and a range of all-new hybrid engines.
The GLC comes with a full surface design and precise shapes, especially on the sides. Powerful wheel arches show that the GLC is also an off-road vehicle. Overall, the mid-range SUC is clear, elegant, modern, and, of course, sporty.
This sportiness is made particularly clear by the AMG Line, which for the first time includes the wheel arch linings in the body color as equipment.
Chrome can be found everywhere on the GLC, even from the basic version. Window surrounds and the underrun protection presents themselves brilliantly. Above all, however, the new front is striking, with headlights that connect to the radiator grille for the first time. This design emphasizes the width of the car, and the chrome frame around the radiator grille, in turn, shows the sporty ambitions of the GLC.
There are also innovations at the rear. The rear lights are now divided into two and have a three-dimensional look on the inside. This also visually underlines the width of the vehicle. Chrome can also be found here, the underbody protection and the tailpipe trims are framed in a chrome look.
Very innovative: The new GLC is only available as a hybrid model. At least mild-hybrid technology was installed in the GLC. There is a choice of four-cylinder engines from the current model family, which also includes plug-in hybrids. Three engine variants are designed as plug-ins and surprise with an enormous, purely electric range of over 100 kilometers.
The electrical drive power of the plug-ins is 100 kW and a maximum torque of 440 Nm. Due to the long-range, everyday routes are easily possible with one charge. The hybrid driving program has also been improved and only proposes the purely electric driving mode for really sensible sections of the route. Accordingly, electric vehicles are mainly used in urban areas. Purely electric driving is possible up to a speed of 140 km/h.
A diesel plug-in hybrid will also be available again, and will also be efficient and dynamic.
The following mild-hybrid models will be available at the market launch:
0-100 km/h [s]
The following models are available as plug-in hybrid versions:
0-100 km/h [s]
Mercedes GLC 2023 interior and trunk
Inside you will find comfort, elegance, and a good touch of luxury and sportiness. A good combination. Even the standard equipment gives a signal in this direction. Of course, the instrument panel is striking, it is structured and shows a wing profile with new flattened round nozzles in the upper area. They are reminiscent of aircraft engines and give the interior an individual touch.
In the lower area, there are trim surfaces that extend harmoniously into the curved center console. A very driver-centric LCD screen looks like it’s hanging levitating in space. The central display has a size of 11.9 inches and emerges seamlessly from the center console – here too one has the impression of a floating screen.
The door panels have a very reduced design and enclose the instrument panel, so to speak. The front area with metallic high-tech elements is in the same design as the center console. A floating operating island is also built into the door paneling, into which door openers and the operation of the seat functions have been integrated.
The seats have the usual avant-garde design and there are newly designed headrests that have been given a closed panel on the backrest.
The trunk of the GLC is large enough for everyday use and benefits from a larger overhang. The new GLC offers 600 liters of loading volume, which is a whopping 50 liters more than the previous model. The Easy-Pack tailgate integrated as standard opens or closes at the touch of a button and makes loading and unloading easier.
If you want it to be flooded with light, you can order the panoramic sunroof for a little extra.
