When Mercedes is about to reveal its new GLC to us, we can already anticipate its first illustrations and data on what the SUV that will be released this year and that is sweeping its rivals will be like.
To speak of the Mercedes GLC is not only to make it one of the premium SUVs, without a doubt, the star of the market; It is to refer today, without a doubt, to the true banner of Mercedes in its segment-by-segment fight against Audi, BMW … and, yes, Volvo, a firm that among luxury SUVs is gaining greater market share every day. It is enough to enter the ANFAC data to see what your situation is.
With up to 1,058 units sold in Spain throughout 2022, the Mercedes GLC sweeps away from its rivals. Without consideration. In front of him, the Audi Q5 has only sold 345; the BMW X3, 392; and the Volvo XC60, 525. And, to get an idea of its magnitude compared to large general SUVs that are not its rivals, it sells more than twice as much as a VW Tiguan, something more than the Nissan Qashqai, and almost as much this year as the Ford Kuga. surprising.
With these figures, you can already get an idea of the importance of the GLC in the Mercedes range. That is why its renewal is now so important. And it is that the SUV will be updated before the end of the year, reviewing some very important sections. Will it serve to relaunch you even more or will it cut your progression?
More Aerodynamic Suv
For now, although some international websites already show test units of the model with the bodywork still camouflaged, at Autopista.es we can now offer you our first illustration of the new SUV, signed as always by our specialist Schulte. These sketches already show us a new Mercedes GLC with an evolutionary design, which modifies its grille and front especially. Also, the optics are new, and powerful air intakes emerge to give it more muscle.
Mercedes also promises better aerodynamics in the SUV, with mirrors relocated to the bodywork, somewhat further back towards the doors. New coatings, specific tires, hidden exhausts, or a sharper rear also try to scratch less resistance that becomes more efficient performance.
Although at the moment there are no images of its interior, what is certain is that the new Mercedes GLC will take its atmosphere from the last C-Class already released. Thus, it will greatly improve its design, with a new 12.3-inch digital instrumentation and an 11.9-inch infotainment system located in a vertical orientation.
But not only the interior will be borrowed from the C-Class; but also its range of engines. For all these reasons, a wide variety of propulsion systems is to be expected, all with micro-hybridization and 48V technology, including a new 2.0-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder petrol engine with 255 hp. There will also be room for diesel, with a revised 2.0 that will develop 260 hp.
Mercedes Glc 2023 Plug-in Hybrids… With 100 Km of Autonomy!
Along with these more traditional mechanics, Mercedes will launch, how could it be otherwise, different plug-in hybrid versions. Perhaps the most important novelty in this field will be a new 23.8 kWh capacity battery and a 9G-Tronic 9-speed automatic transmission that, in combination, will allow 100% electric autonomies of close to 100 kilometers.
We also foresee some especially sporty models. In this sense, an AMG variant is expected, with a 2.0-liter turbo engine, a 6.1 kWh capacity battery, and a rear electric motor that will yield up to 200 hp. Very soon we will know more information as the date of his debut approaches.
