The Cupra Born debuts a new version called “e-Boost” that allows it to reach a higher power peak in its one hundred percent electric mechanics.
The Cupra Born can always boast of being the first one hundred percent electric model of the Spanish company. The electric sports compact now presents us with a new version that brings the name “e-Boost” to its range: it will do so, first, in its variant with a 58 kWh battery, and later also with a 77 kWh battery.
In essence, this new Cupra Born e-Boost presents higher power figures: from 150 kW (204 hp) it goes to power peaks that reach 170 kW (231 hp), with a torque of 310 Nm. Acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h is superior, reaching that speed from a standstill in 6.6 seconds (0.7 faster in this e-Boost version), while 0-50 km/h covers it in 2.6 seconds (0.3 faster). The autonomy is almost the same: 420 kilometers according to the WLTP cycle, for 425 km in the “normal” version.
Charging times in the Cupra Born e-Boost are 6 hours and 15 minutes to reach 80 percent of its capacity charging at 11 kW of power. However, with a fast charger of direct current at 120 kW, it goes from 5 to 80 percent in just 35 minutes. At 100 kW of power, you can get an extra 100 kilometers of range in just 8 minutes.
The Cupra Born e-Boost is, therefore, the sportiest and most efficient version of the entire range, to which we must add the DCC Sport and ESC Sport systems, the oversized brake system, the progressive steering, the five driving modes driving (with an exclusive CUPRA mode) and wide tires on optional 20-inch alloy wheels (standard on the “Launch Edition”), although this new version includes 19-inch wheels as standard
DETAIL OF EQUIPMENT AND PRICES
Apart from everything new seen at a mechanical level, the new Cupra Born e-Boost also presents interesting novelties in the equipment section, to which we must also include the launch of a “Launch Edition” version only for its commercial launch.
In itself, the Cupra Born is loaded with technological elements on board, but this e-Boost version adds more pepper to the equation: the aforementioned 19-inch wheels, disc brakes of up to 340 mm in diameter or leather sports steering wheel and heated, with specific buttons to choose the driving mode. In the case of the “Launch Edition” version, more driving assistants are added as standard, such as adaptive and predictive cruise control, signal recognition, pre-collision assistant, automatic parking assistant or automatic lights assistant, as well as Adaptive Chassis Control for, vary the firmness of the suspension in up to 15 different points, the 20-inch wheels, the Head-Up Display, the panoramic roof or the Beats Audio premium sound system.
