After four years on the market, the Citroen C5 Aircross receives its first facelift with aesthetic and technological equipment changes, as well as more interior customization options. All so as not to lose track of its rivals and above all to close the gap with its first cousin, the Peugeot 3008.
Orders to get their services are now open and the brand also announces all its prices, which start at 29,085 euros or 25,585 euros with a discount applied. It will arrive in dealerships in May.
The mechanics remain the same, with two thermal engines, gasoline and diesel, and a plug-in hybrid variant, as well as manual and automatic gearboxes. It can be configured in four finishes and adds five different environments to the interior.
This large compact SUV, which is the largest of the brand, has the enemy at home with the Peugeot 3008, being in its shadow. At least the sales reflect this since the double chevron closed in 2021 with 5,804 units sold compared to 16,812 in 3008. Thus, with this slight remodeling, it aspires to close the gap.
The ingredients of the renewed Citroën C5 Aircross
The new Citroën C5 Aircross does not vary in size, as it continues to be 4.50 m long, 1.84 m wide and 1.67 m high. The battle remains at 2.73 m and the ground clearance does the same at 230 mm.

However, in this restyling it changes its face, as it opens a new front, with a more square design, a new grille, and a new light signature for the headlights, which are also darkened. It also integrates larger air intakes and the side ones become functional. The icing on the cake is a new lower lip that can be black or chrome depending on the version.
The changes at the rear of the renewed C5 Aircross are limited to the headlights, which are also equipped with a new light configuration with three-dimensional rectangular shapes.
In the passenger compartment, the leading role is taken by a new 10-inch multimedia touch screen, which is now housed above the air conditioning nozzles. This display is combined with the 12.3-inch digital instrumentation, which does not vary from the outgoing Citroën C5 Aircross. However, only the most equipped versions mount it as standard.

In addition, the versions that have an automatic gearbox have a small selector instead of a gear lever, the same one that models from the Stellantis group already have, such as the new Citroën C4 and Peugeot 308.
And another of the premieres is the Advanced Comfort seats that I found are in the latest releases of the French firm and that combine an ergonomic shape with a top layer of 15 mm foam. They can also be configured with heating and massage functions.
Thus, in combination with the suspension with progressive hydraulic dampers, it promises high ride comfort. And it is that these seats are available as standard from its most basic version.
The C5 Aircross maintains the benefits of modularity that we already found in the previous one. Like the independently sliding rear bench seat in the three rear seats, which also fold down their backs separately. Despite this, Citroën has not taken the opportunity to have ISOFIX anchors in the three rear seats, which the Peugeot 3008 does offer.
Be that as it may, this SUV allows more space for the legs or the trunk depending on the position of these sliding seats, varying between 580 and 720 liters, or between 460 and 600 liters in the plug-in hybrid variant.
Since the changes are essentially cosmetic and equipment, the new Citroën C5 Aircross mounts the same known engines: one gasoline, one diesel, and a single PHEV variant.
In other words, the 1.2-liter, 130 hp, and 230 Nm PureTech gasoline are present, which can be associated either with a six-speed manual gearbox or with the eight-speed EAT8 automatic gearbox.
And the other thermal engine available is the 1.5-liter BlueHDi diesel, also 130 hp but with 300 Nm of maximum torque, which can also be selected with the manual or automatic gearbox.
The set is completed with the Plug-In Hybrid 225 plug-in hybrid variant, in which a 181 hp 1.6-liter petrol block joins forces with an 81.2 kW (110 hp) electric motor to jointly sign 224 hp and 360 hp. Nm.
The electric drive takes energy from a 13.2 kWh battery that gives it an electric range of 55 km, earning it the ZERO label. The approved consumption of this PHEV is more than restrained: 1.4 l/100 km.
It is also the most powerful and performance C5 Aircross, as it sets its top speed at 225 km/h, while gasoline and diesel do not reach 200 km/h maximum speed. This ZERO distinctive variant is equipped with a Mode 2 recharging cable and a 3.7 kW onboard charger.
Four finishes and more customization
The range of the new Citroën C5 Aircross is divided into four finishes that are available associated with any of the mechanical versions, except the Feel access version, which can only be selected with the manual gearbox thermal engines, while the C-Series is not available for the plug-in hybrid.
There are six selectable colors for the bodywork, one being new: Eclipse Blue. It is added to the already known White Banquise, White Nacarado, Gray Acier, Gray Platinum, and Black Perla Nera.
It also debuts 18-inch wheels, with a PULSAR design that are two-tone diamond-cut, in addition to the previously available 18-inch SWIRL and 19-inch two-tone ART and ART Black.
As for the equipment, from the base Feel finish we find the Advanced Comfort seats, the 12.3-inch digital instrumentation, as well as dual-zone climate control, rear parking sensors, or SWIRL wheels.
For its part, the Feel Pack has the new 18-inch wheels and adds elements such as front parking aid sensors, reversing camera with Top Rear Vision, hands-free starting and access, and electrically folding mirrors.
The new 10-inch multimedia screen is standard equipment from the C-Series, which also has the My Citroën Drive system, with a connected browser and the Anodized Bronze Color Pack aesthetic package.
The Shine Pack is the top of the range of the SUV family, with 19-inch wheels, as well as electric regulation for the driver’s seat, apart from the fact that the front seats are heated.
Finally, four optional environments are also added to the passenger compartment: Wild Black, Urban Black, Metropolitan Black, and Hyper Black.
