
The Chinese brand BYD, recently landed in the Spanish market, has confirmed its presence at Automobile Barcelona 2023. In addition to exhibiting its three models currently for sale, the Atto 3, Han EV and Tang EV, it will also premiere its next two electric launches, the highly anticipated Dolphin and seal.
In addition, the manufacturer has also taken the opportunity to confirm that both vehicles will arrive at dealerships during the second half of the year, although a specific launch date has not yet been given. BYD currently has two Pioneer Stores in Spain, one located in Barcelona (Aragó 29) and another in Madrid (Concha Espina 20).
The Dolphin and Seal are the first two members of the Ocean sub-range, a family of electric vehicles designed for international markets. His design philosophy «Ocean Aesthetics» distance with language “Dragon Face” of the Atto 3, Han EV and Tang EV, seeking to attract a younger clientele. Order books in Europe will open in June (Dolphin) and end of August (Seal).
The BYD Dolphin is a compact segment C of 4.29 meters long. It is equipped with a 204 CV (150 kW) electric motor coupled to the front axle, which is combined with Blade type LFP (lithium-ironphosphate) batteries with a capacity of 60 kWh. Its autonomy stands at 427 km WLTP, and it can charge a maximum of 88 kW in direct current (30-80% in 29 minutes).

BYD to launch the Dolphin and Seal in the second half of 2023
The BYD Seal is a sedan in the D segment of 4.80 meters long. Its mechanical offer will consist of a rear-wheel drive version of 313 CV (230 kW) and another with all-wheel drive and 530 CV (390 kW). Although its batteries will also be the company’s well-known Blade, in this case they have a capacity of 82 kWh.
The RWD model will have a range of 570km WLTPwhile the AWD will stay in 520km WLTP. The charging power will be significantly higher than in the Dolphin, reaching 150 kW in direct current (30-80% in 26 minutes). Like its smaller brother, the sedan sits on BYD’s advanced e-Platform 3.0.
Beyond these five models, BYD is expected to expand its European range next year with the addition of new models such as the urban seagullalso belonging to the Ocean family, or the Yangwang U8a rival luxury SUV to the future Mercedes-Benz EQG.
