In just a few months, BMW plans to debut the new generation of the X1, one of its most commercially successful SUV models. Here you have all its secrets.
In just over two months, BMW is expected to debut the third and new generation of the X1, one of the SUV-type vehicles with the highest number of registrations of the German brand. Specifically and according to the unofficial information to which AutoSpias.com has had access, it is more than likely that at the beginning of 2022 the German firm will present the new generation of this model, just coinciding with the start of its production in the factory. from Regensburg (Germany) .
During the last hours, the new generation of the X1 has made headlines on various sites and blogs specializing in the motor world by publishing the spy images of its more than likely sports version X1 M35i xDrive. This variant will be at the top of the range and will be distinguished by offering a series of aesthetic details and technical specifications that will differentiate it from the rest of the versions of the range of this premium mid-size SUV.
In this way, it is expected that the new flagship M35i of the new generation of the X1 will come equipped with the latest evolution of the company’s 2.0-liter TwinPower Turbo technology four-cylinder petrol engine, mated exclusively to an automatic transmission from eight speeds and combined with the xDrive AWD all-wheel-drive system as standard. It would be, in essence, the same powertrain that incorporates the Series 1 M135i, the M235i Gran Coupé, and the X2 M35i, models that yield a power of 306 CV and a maximum torque of 450 Nm. However, the next X1 could produce an increase in power to 350 hp (the torque should also be slightly higher).

In addition to a more powerful engine, the upcoming X1 M35i xDrive will be equipped with larger brakes, a specific suspension scheme with a firmer setting, and a newly adjusted steering. On an aesthetic level, its personality will also be well defined with a more aggressive body kit, which will include sporty front and rear bumpers, sidestep extensions, and a rear spoiler.
From a technical point of view, the entire range of the third new generation of the X1 will be based on an evolved version of the UKL / FAAR platform, currently mounted on all compact BMW and MINI models, including the recently unveiled 2 Series Active Tourer. All cars with front-wheel drive (with all-wheel drive versions) with an engine located in the transverse front position.
In addition to the aforementioned 2.0 TwinPower Turbo version of the M35i sports version, the rest of the mechanical range of the third-generation X1 should include other versions with diesel, gasoline, plug-in hybrids, and even a more than likely one hundred percent electric.
