The BMW M4 CSL of the M4 generation G82 presents itself as part of the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este 2022 (May 20 – 22) in a sensational way. The recipe is tried and tested: less weight and more power. Everything is about price and technical data.
At the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este 2022, the BMW M4 CSL, which tops off the M4 generation G82, will be presented in all its glory for the first time. A closer look reveals several things that make the new top model “Coupé Sport Lightweight” stand out: at the front, in addition to the larger front splitter with side flaps, there is a newly designed grille, which is additionally emphasized by red accents.
Fewer struts made of CFRP also make the kidneys of the M4 CSL appear more martial. You can make as many crosses in the current price list, even with M Performance Parts you can’t get this grill at the moment. The rear is dominated by a large “ducktail”, which generates more downforce and also provides a powerful presence. Strikingly designed taillights sit underneath them, which effectively contrast with the normal M4 thanks to laser technology.
A design trick that was also used on the M4 GTS from 2015, was still using OLED technology at the time. But the real strengths lie under the sheet metal. Compared to the M4 Competition, the CSL sheds a whole 100 kilograms while at the same time increasing its output by 40 hp (30 kW). Increased boost pressure and adapted engine control were the means to an end for the 3.0-liter straight-six. The optional yellow daytime running light builds a bridge to racing.

Measures that are also known from motorsport are the elimination of the second row of seats and the production of the bonnet and tailgate of the BMW M4 CSL from carbon fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP). In conjunction with very light carbon bucket seats, the weight-reducing changes push the curb weight down to 1625 kilograms.

Engine & Technical data
The impressive technical data of the BMW M4 CSL are reflected in very good driving performance. The two-door car sprints from a standing start to 100 km/h in just 3.7 seconds and 200 km/h in 10.7 seconds. The top speed is 307 km/h. The fact that the CSL is not just a paper tiger is proven by its time on the Nürburgring Nordschleife: With a time of 7:15.677 minutes, it lapped the 20.6-kilometer circuit faster than any other production BMW before it.

The time for the full 20.8-kilometer lap is 7:20.207 minutes. In order not only to fill the Eifel with an emotional sound but the M4 CSL is also equipped with a flap exhaust system and titanium rear silencers. An eight-speed automatic transmission always transfers power to the rear wheels. The M4 CSL is a whole eight millimeters closer to the asphalt.

The standard M Adaptive suspension and mixed tires of 19 inches at the front and 20 inches at the rear guarantee high driving dynamics in conjunction with specially developed high-performance tires. The incrementally adjustable “M Traction Control” has been specially tuned to the BMW M4 CSL (2022).
BMW M4 CSL Price
Anyone who thinks that the BMW M4 CLS is a consistently uncompromising athlete is wrong. Amenities such as the BMW Maps navigation system, automatic air conditioning, or about two helmet storage compartments in the empty rear are part of the standard scope. A head-up display, an alarm system, and a parking assistant are available at an additional cost. Speaking of price, the BMW M4 CSL of course also tops the M4 range in this respect and is available from 165,200 euros (as of May 2022) – also strictly limited to 1000 pieces worldwide.
