On May 24, BMW will present the new i5the 100% electric version of the everlasting 5 Series. This executive sedan will be located in the E segment, completing the offer of electric sedans from the Bavarian manufacturer, currently made up of the i4 (segment D) and i7 (segment F).
Among its rivals will be the efficient Mercedes-Benz EQE and the always current Tesla Model S, although its main competitor will be the Audi A6 e-tron, since both will be available with practical estate bodywork (called Avant in the Audi and Touring in the BMW), being the only electric ones in the category available with this option.
Barely two weeks before his coming-out, BMW has shared two previews of the expected model with the aim of opening your mouth and showing some of its distinctive features. In the first we can see that the double kidney-shaped calender, of generous dimensions (especially in width), will have an illuminated edge.
Despite the fact that the grill will be partially blinded for aerodynamic reasons, the designers have not chosen to paint it in the same color as the rest of the body to denote the electric nature of the vehicle. And it is that, as in the i4 and i7, its surface will be used to place various sensors for driving assistance systems. To hide its presence, the grille will be painted black.
