On March 17, Audi presented the A6 e-Tron Avant concept – a luxury-class electric station wagon. We have pictures and information for you.

The manufacturer presented the electric Audi A6 e-Tron Sportback last year. Now it’s the station wagon version’s turn: the Audi A6 e-Tron Avant is to be the first electric station wagon in the luxury class.

  • Fast charge – 300 km in 10 minutes
  • Up to 700 kilometers range

Audi A6 Avant e-Tron Design

The design concept of the e-Tron Avant corresponds to that of the A6 Sportback e-Tron. With a length of 4.96 meters, a width of 1.96 meters, and a height of 1.44 meters, the dimensions of both vehicles are the same and naturally belong to the luxury class.

As far as the lines are concerned, further development of the manufacturer’s current design language can be seen. A closed Singleframe, the continuous light strip at the rear, and other elements show the relationship with current electric Audi models. With the concept is shown here, Audi gives a glimpse of the future of the Avant models. Hard edges have been avoided, instead, there are smooth transitions and soft shadows over the entire body.

As a result, the A6 e-Tron Avant appears almost monolithic, as if it were made from a single piece. The roof arch slopes gently backward and shows a sloping D-pillar – a typical feature of the Avant models. The sill has a black insert, which has meanwhile established itself as an element of the Audi electric models. Just like the slim exterior mirrors, which are designed as cameras.

You can also see flat headlight bezels that jut out far into the sides. Also immediately recognizable is the aerodynamic design, which was not only designed to make sense visually but also functionally.

A rear spoiler in a contrasting color additionally emphasizes the silhouette and is also responsible for the aerodynamics.

Engines, battery, and range

The electric station wagon will not disappoint in terms of charging capacity and range either. With 800-volt charging technology, charging can take place with a charging capacity of up to 270 kW. It was important to Audi that the Avant had a range suitable for everyday use and was therefore also suitable for long journeys and families. Depending on the drive and model variant, the range should be up to 700 kilometers – a good value.

If you need to charge briefly in between, you can do so at the quick charging station and fill up with enough electricity for another 300 kilometers in just 10 minutes.

The total output of the two built-in electric motors is 350 kW, the maximum torque is 800 Newton meters. The Audi air suspension and adaptive dampers are also installed in the concept.

The A6 e-Tron Avant will also be dynamic, sprinting from zero to 100 km/h in around 4 seconds. The entry-level model also needs just under seven seconds for the sprint.

Specifications

As usual from an Audi, the proportions of the A6 e-Tron Avant are elegant and dynamic. Aerodynamics plays a particularly important role – in all Audi models. Form and function should be combined in the best possible way, and that seems to work with the A6 e-Tron. The CW value of the A6 e-Tron Sportback is only 0.22, the Avant is only 0.02 units higher.

These values mean that the A6 e-Tron models have minimal air resistance, which contributes to lower consumption and a correspondingly longer range.

Audi A6 e-Tron Avant Prices and launch

Audi presented the A6 e-Tron Avant concept vehicle on March 17. Nothing is known yet about the exact market launch, and it is still too early for prices. However, we will probably not see the production models of the A6 e-Tron series until 2023.
