Larger than the Tonale and the Stelvio, Alfa Romeo plans to develop and launch a new large SUV with a 100% electric drive. In addition to the already well-known Stelvio and Tonale, Alfa Romeo’s range of SUV-type vehicles will welcome new models in this segment in the coming years. Now, the big news would fall on a large SUV, much larger than the Stelvio.
The commercial premiere of this mysterious and unprecedented large SUV from the Italian firm will take place in 2027, according to unofficial information to which Autopista.es has had access. Two will be the main peculiarities of this new car: it will have one hundred percent electric propulsion technology and up to seven occupants can travel inside it.
According to the brand’s CEO, Jean-Philippe Imparato, Alfa Romeo has not yet decided between sedan-saloon or SUV-type bodywork for the new large vehicle planned for 2027, although the second of the hypotheses has a higher number of probabilities. In this regard, the Italian manufacturer would bet on a more innovative design and different from what models with similar characteristics offer, such as the BMW X5 or the Audi Q7.
The main market to which this unprecedented large SUV from Alfa would be destined, according to preliminary information, would be North America, although its arrival seems more than likely in important markets such as China and Europe.

Structurally and technically, this large SUV would be based on the Stellantis Group’s upcoming STLA Large platform, an architecture still under development and refinement that is primarily intended for purely electric large vehicles.
Some of the basic lines of this STLA Large architecture from the Stellantis Group are the following: for vehicles between 4.70 m and 5.50 m long, 1.90 m and 2 m wide, with batteries between 101 kWh and 118 kWh, the voltage from 400 V to 800 V, up to 800 km of autonomy, with power levels between 204 and 450 CV and with 4×2 and 4×4 drive versions.

As for its place of manufacture, at the moment nothing has been decided. In this regard, some of the Jeep factories in the United States or some of the plants located in Italy are pointed out. “ The possibility of producing in the United States has not yet been decided and it is not a decision that we want to make today ”, Iparato recently stated.
