The Alfa Romeo Giulia is based on five fundamental pillars: the fantastic Italian design, of course, marked by the guidelines of proportionality, respect for the 50/50 weight distribution, simplicity, elegance, and sportiness. The new Giulia, which replaces the Alfa Romeo 159, represents a true revolution for the brand, as it will once again use rear-wheel drive, engines with up to 510 hp, and a premium level of finishes.
Its objective is clear, to be a serious rival to the Audi A4 and BMW 3 Series, and even to the new Jaguar XE and the Mercedes C-Class. It should be noted that the Alfa Romeo Giulia is based on the new Georgio platform used by other brand products and whose main novelty is the return to rear-wheel drive, with all-wheel drive versions also available.
Design, pure Italian passion
The Giulia is a D-segment saloon with a strong Italian character that retains the characteristic attributes of Alfa Romeo. Its diamond grille, a bumper with two air intakes at its ends, and a sharp optical group stand out. The side view reveals clean shapes in a sculptural body that reaches a rear with tapered headlamps, an integrated diffuser, and a bulging bumper. There are different designs of alloy wheels ranging from 16 to 19 inches and up to twelve exterior paints.
The interior follows these same design lines that the Italian sedan presents on the outside, with worked and elaborate shapes supported by marked minimalism in the number of controls and physical buttons. The information and entertainment system with a screen of up to 8.8 inches is managed through controls integrated into the center console. There is also dual-zone climate control, a sports steering wheel, and an instrument panel with two dials and a central screen. The cabin can be complemented with different fabric and leather upholstery options in various colors and configurations.
Engine range
The Alfa Romeo Giulia 2022, like the Alfa Romeo Giulia 2018 range, is available with a family of engines made up of two petrol units and three diesel units. The diesel engines are based on the same 2.2 JTDM engine with three power levels. The first has 160 hp and 400 Nm of torque and can be associated with a six-speed manual transmission or an eight-speed automatic transmission. The second version raises the figure to 190 hp and 450 Nm of torque, which is only available with an automatic gearbox, like the last version, with 210 hp and 470 Nm of torque. Unlike the first two versions of the turbodiesel engine, which are rear-wheel drives, the 210 hp Giulia 2.2 JTDM is an all-wheel drive.

As for the petrol engines, both are based on the same 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine. The first has a power of 200 hp and a maximum torque of 330 Nm. It can only be equipped with an eight-speed automatic transmission and rear-wheel drive. Meanwhile, the second engine is a 2.0 turbo with 280 hp and 400 Nm with an eight-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive.
Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio, sports car DNA
Above all the aforementioned engines is the flagship of the range, the Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio. Equipped with a 2.9-liter V6 Biturbo engine, the Alfa Romeo Giulia QV is capable of delivering 510 horsepower and a maximum torque of 600 Nm, which are managed through an eight-speed automatic gearbox and an all-wheel-drive system. . This combination allows the most powerful Giulia to go from zero to 100 km/h in 3.9 seconds and reach a maximum speed of 307 km/h.
In addition, the Giulia Quadrifoglio benefits from a sportier exterior with specific bumpers, grille, side skirts, hood, and rear diffuser. The interior also receives a touch of distinction such as sports seats, a carbon steering wheel with paddle shifters, a new instrument panel, and other materials such as leather to cover the different surfaces peppered with red stitching.
Among the systems and technology integration to make the Giulia QV more effective is the Alfa CDC with the Alfa DNA Pro system, Active Torque Vectoring, and active suspension, all managed through different driving modes. Powerful carbon-ceramic brakes, a sports suspension, and an active front splitter are also available. This version must rival models like the Audi RS 4 Avant, the BMW M3, or the Mercedes-AMG C 63.
Finishes and equipment
The new Alfa Romeo Giulia is available in four different trim levels. The access version includes 16-inch aluminum wheels, Alfa Romeo assistance, a 6.5-inch screen, and a multifunction steering wheel with an integrated start button. Next on the list is the Alfa Romeo Giulia Super, with 17-inch wheels, power-folding mirrors, an electrochromic interior mirror, rear parking sensors, and exterior chrome accents.
