2022 Audi A6: last minute of the saloon update

Audi is immersed in all preparations for the renewal of one of its most popular saloons, the A6. Here is his last hour.

Officially presented in 2018, the current generation of the Audi A6 is approaching the middle of its commercial life, so its update/renewal is almost imminent, according to the latest unofficial information reaching us from Germany.

Marketed since the summer of 2018, the fifth-generation Audi A6, codenamed C8, will receive a slight redesign throughout 2022. As is often the case with Audi, cosmetic tweaks will be very minor. Thanks to the development and testing of prototypes already “hunted” by spy photographers throughout the set-up process, we can now tell you what the image of the renovation of this saloon would look like.

Upfront, the changes will focus primarily on the grille, which would remove the horizontal chrome lines from the Single Frame for a sportier black honeycomb pattern. A change is also planned for the redesign of the A8 limousine, scheduled for the end of 2021. The same will happen with the grille, which would incorporate more worked and sporty air intakes. On the other hand, the light signature should evolve slightly within the blocks, which will opt for a shape very close to the optics of the 2020 Audi A3.

As for the rear area, it should also adopt some changes, such as the one referring to the rear light clusters, connected by a new thin chrome strip.

In the interior, the 2022 A6 will offer a similar image to the current model, although one would expect new materials and original upholstery to increase their exclusivity and customization options. In terms of information technologies, connectivity, and entertainment onboard, few changes are expected, since the equipment that the German saloon currently has is one of the most complete among its rivals.

Audi A6 2022 Engine

In the mechanical section, all the A6 2022 engines will receive the mild-hybrid technology of light hybridization with a 48V system, either in diesel or gasoline. Specifically, it is more than likely that in diesel there are versions 35, 40, 45, and 50 TDI ranging from 163 to 286 hp, while in gasoline one of the protagonists will be the 45 TFSI of about 265 hp. Another interesting variant in its range will be the 50 TFSI plug-in hybrid version with 299 CV of total power and with the ZERO environmental label from the DGT.
